My graduation internship at Bits of Freedom
As part of my graduation I was an internee at Bits of Freedom. During my internship I researched the supporters of Bits of Freedom, and how Bits of Freedom would be able to reach their followers better and thereby come closer their goals.
After 3 years of courses at my bachelor "Communication and Multimedia Design" I was ready to finalize my study by graduating. I choose to do a half-year internship at the civil rights movement Bits of Freedom.
Bits of Freedom is a Dutch online civil rights organisation for privacy and freedom at the internet. Together with their supporters they lobby, campaign and inform people about these subjects and thereby change the attitude of people towards, and laws about, them.
A large part of my internship was the research about the followers of Bits of Freedom. I've looked into the followers of other like-minded, and completely different organisations, to look into their ways of interacting with the people who support them. By the end I presented Bits of Freedom my conclusions and they will use the research in their goal to spread their message to more people.
A couple of the research results are also combined in blogposts I wrote for the blog at the Bits of Freedom website. The whole research is available to read and re-use by the Attribution 3.0 Unported (CC BY 3.0) Licence. Download the research paper here (Dutch, pdf).
Another part of my internship was organizing the Big Brother Awards 2010. My main task was to stay in contact with all the volunteers who would like to help out during the evening of the awards.
